Performance Harvest of Kafrelsheikh University for 2021

 Dr.Abdelrazek Youssef Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University, presents a report on the university’s performance in the educational and research fields during 2021.

The report explains the historic visit of President Abed El-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic to Kafrelsheikh University, last December, which witnessed his meeting with members of the Supreme Council of Universities and directing his Excellency to strengthen mechanisms for sponsoring and supporting talented and outstanding students, in order to build a generation of distinguished youth cadres capable of innovative contribution to completing the sustainable development process of the state, and to consolidate the factor of knowledge, innovation and creativity in society, as well as support the process of linking the scientific research system and the related specialized research centers with the university education sector and providing all facilities for the preparation of innovative researches and studies, in order to participate in the formulation of scientific solutions to the challenges facing the Egyptian state, and national development projects in all fields, in addition to developing activities within universities in order to build the students’ personality and enhance their awareness and correct realistic understanding of the challenges and opportunities in Egypt as a pivotal issue that requires regular awareness.

The report indicates that three faculties of the university had obtained accreditation by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, which are the faculties of Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Engineering, pointing to the approval of the Council of Ministers for the establishment of Kafrelsheikh National University and Kafrelsheikh Technological University.

In the field of international publishing, the report notes that the university has published (1,308) researches in indexed scientific journals with a high impact factor compared to last year 2020, as (987) scientific researches have been published with an annual increase of 32.5%, as well as an increase in international cooperation in publishing scientific researches by 67.2% compared to the general average for Egypt, which is 52%.

The report indicates that the university ranks the first place for middle-aged universities in Egypt with the highest impact during the last three years of publication in the Web of Science, as well as the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture rank the first place in research excellence at the level of Egypt in the Web of Science.

The report explains the university’s progress in the British Times Ranking, as it appeared among the top 500-600 universities globally, and ranks the second place locally. The university also achieves the first place locally in the 2021 Shanghai Ranking in agricultural sciences and human biological sciences, and the second place locally in the same ranking in Veterinary Medical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The university also ranked the second place locally and in Africa in the Green Metric ranking for the year 2021; it made progress compared to last year in its global ranking, and ranked the place 217th worldwide, in addition to ranking the 914th position globally in the ranking of the best international universities (US News), the 27th place regionally, and the eighth place locally. The university also appeared for the first time in the Plant and Animal Science major, as it ranked the 316th place globally; in the QS ranking, the university progressed from the place No 121-130 in the year 2020 to rank the place No 111-120 in 2021 at the level of the Arab world and the place 18th locally. 14 staff members were included in the top 2% of professors in the worldwide citation rate, according to a Stanford University study.

The report points out that the university has developed six new programs in various fields and disciplines, namely (bio-artificial intelligence, applied biotechnology, protected agriculture technology, agricultural production systems destined for export, specialized translation in Spanish Language, preparing a computer teacher in English); The number of new and distinguished programs at the university become 21 new academic programs.

The report points out that the university signed (7) international agreements with universities (Okayama, Belarus, Vitebsk State Technological University, Jadara, the French Universities Network, Umm al-Quwain, and Sabratha), in addition to the university’s participation in the presidential initiative (Dignified Life) with a number of (22) medical convoys to provide the best medical and treatment services to citizens.

The report adds that the university established a software production unit, as two programs were produced, the first: for electronic payment for university students, and the second: electronic archiving for the university administration. The university equipped electronic examination center with a capacity of 1610 computers, in addition to equipping a virtual stock exchange and a virtual bank at the Faculty of Commerce and equipping an educational museum for the Faculty of Arts that includes copies of artifacts.

 

The report notes that the university held the first sportive festival for student families in Egyptian universities in the first week of October 2021, with the participation of 700 male and female students from 27 Egyptian universities entitled (Youth of the New Republic).
