Cooperation with the Human Rights Unit

 The university, headed by Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, holds a workshop on human rights in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit, in the presence of Dr. Ismail Al-Qon, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Dr. Amany Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Dr. Ali Sabry, Secretary-General of the University; Dr. Yasser Al-Jundy, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Dr. Rushdy Al-Adawy, vice dean of the Faculty of Agriculture for Postgraduate Studies and Research and General Coordinator of Student Activities at the University, and Dr. Mahmoud Abd El-Aziz, vice dean of the Faculty of Education for Education and Students’ Affairs, in the presence of journalist Ahmed Mohsen, the media official for the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, explains that the University is keen to consolidate the concepts and principles of human rights and concepts of democracy in the minds of young people and university students to prepare them for leadership in the future as they are the future of Egypt. They also seek to disseminate the meaning and concept of human rights, educate staff members, employees, and our university students about their rights and duties towards the university and society as a whole by holding many events, courses, seminars, and activities that the university supports and harnesses its capabilities to emphasize the concept of human rights and citizenship. They also pay great attention to youth as they are the leaders of the future in addition to getting the university community be acquainted with the roles played by the state to implement the national strategy for human rights on the ground, to stress the principles and concepts of democracy as a vision, a legal obligation, and a duty that every Egyptian should enjoy without discrimination.

 

Journalist Ahmed Mohsen, the media official of the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, indicates that the Ministry is keen to establish an independent unit called the “Human Rights Unit,” which is the largest umbrella that specializes in rights and duties and is responsible for recording and documenting the achievements of universities throughout the academic year, pointing out that the unit will work to choose the best university that applies ideal standards for human rights, and that the human rights unit aims to monitor positives, receive complaints, strengthen and develop capabilities in the field of human rights, and expand the base of awareness within the academic community, and disseminating the culture of human rights through teaching it in all universities.
