Opening of the Middle East International Conference of Electrical Power Systems “MEPCON 2022”

Prof. Dr. Abdel-Razek Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University, inaugurated the Middle East International Conference of Electrical Power Systems “MEPCON 2022” on the first day of the conference’s activities,

Which is organized by the Faculty of Engineering under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, during the period from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 December at the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo.

This came in the presence of Prof. Dr. Farouk Ismail, former President of Cairo University and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Mepcon Conference, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aal, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hassan Younes, former Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and deans of faculties.

Where Prof. Dr. Abdel-Razek Desouky welcomed the attendees and participants at the opening of the conference, and explained that this edition is the twenty-third organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Kafrelsheikh University for the first time with the participation of 24 countries and the presence of a number of scientific and industrial institutions, the Military Technical College, Air Defense and deans of all engineering faculties, from Various universities and the Engineers Syndicate in Kafrelsheikh.

Prof. Dr. Desouky confirmed that the conference stems from a sense of the great importance of sustainable development, especially in the fields of engineering and renewable energy, and is in harmony with the directions of Kafrelsheikh University, which sensed its strategic role, and focused on achieving sustainability, which is one of the most important pillars of Egypt's Vision 2030.

Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Heliel, Dean of the College of Engineering and Chairman of the Conference, explained that the conference discusses everything related to electrical power engineering, starting from generation, transmission, and ending with the distribution of electrical energy, and the associated means of control, methods of raising efficiency, and means of prevention, adding that the conference includes a large number of Scientific sessions to discuss accepted research after arbitration, in addition to several lectures given by specialists from Egypt and abroad. The conference includes an exhibition of products of companies working in the fields of electrical power engineering and sponsoring the conference.

Prof. Dr.  Heliel added that such scientific conferences provide an opportunity for exchange and interaction between the experiences and achievements of scientific research in this field, which is presented in a scientific manner and in a distinct framework, and that this conference is the oldest international conferences held in Egypt in electrical power engineering, as this session celebrates Thirty-three years have passed since its launch since its first session, which was launched in 1989. During this period, it was hosted by several Egyptian universities.

In conclusion, Dr. Abdel-Razek Dasouky, the university president, presented the university shield to Prof. Dr. Farouk Ismail, head of the conference’s leadership committee, the university shield, and the university shield to Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Heliel, the dean of the college and the president of the conference. The college dean also gave the college shield to the University President.
