Recycling is a process to change (waste) materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production.
Within the events in  the university, symposium entitled "recycling of rice straw waste for industrial purposes and the role of environment affairs device in getting rid of agricultural waste in Middle Delta" was held on Tuesday 21/2/2013 in the faculty of Agriculture in which the dean of the faculty of Agriculture and other vice deans of the college speak about how to benefit from environmental week in explaining environmental awareness through environmental activities held between the faculty and all faculties , through explaining   how to benefit from rice straw instead of burning it; it is the best solution and less cost which all countrymen do , but this phenomenon affects environmental system and causes air pollution and a lot of diseases such as Asthma. so the ministry of environment in cooperation with kafrelsheikh university  begins to face this problem through:

1- Collecting and processing rice straw by financing from the ministry of environment. The last experiments were in 2011 in Garbia Province.

2- The ministry of state for environment development signed with Egyptian Company for Solid Waste Recycling (ECARU) for the fourth year in collecting, transferring and recycling agricultural residues in 2011 in Garbia. They begin to execute this project with the beginning of harvest in province since 15/8/2012.
