Introduction

The department present media program that aim at preparing a graduate who is capable of working at journalism, radio and television, and public relations

The graduates' specifications (course of journalism)

 

The graduate of media program, course of journalism should be able to:

1-Understand the nature of journalism and the factors affecting it

2-Practice journalism efficiently in paper or electronic journals

3-Apply the standards of professional conduct and all the ethics and legislations of the profession

4-Conducting researches, media studies and public opinion researches accurately and independently

5-Edit, Direct and produce paper or electronic journal creatively and innovatively

6-Acquire effective communication skills

7-think critically and solve problems they might face during their journalistic work

8-Composing cultural background in different knowledge

 

The academic standards that we follow are to graduate students who are capable of

1-Explainning scientific concepts related to journalism and the media system

2-Describing the steps of issuing and producing a newspaper or an electronic paper

3-Tracing the history of the Egyptian, and Arab press and their development

4-Discribing the steps of editing every form of newspapers

5-Identifying the variables related to the Arab and international press

6-Identifying the journalistic ethics and the professional codes of conduct

7-Identifing the methods of measuring public opinion and the trends about events, issues and problems

Professional skills

The graduate becomes capable of

·         Collecting press material from various human and non-human sources

·         Writing or editing press materials in various forms of press, newspaper or electronic paper

·         Designing, implementing or directing a page of newspaper, magazine or electronic paper

·          Using or photographing press images for the newspaper

·         Prepares and performs scientific researches on a problem concerning journalism

·         Prepares and performs polls or surveys to measure the public opinion

·         Prepares regular or electronic paper

·         Innovates new methods to address the various issues and topics

General skills

The graduate becomes capable of:

·         Dealing with computer, internet and email.

·         Using statistical programs in processing research data.

·         Working in teamwork.

·         Displaying a general or scientific report in an attractive manner.

·         Discussing certain results.

·         Think critically.

·         Runs a dialogue in a democratic way.

·         Deals efficiently with sources of data.

 

The graduate's specifications (course of radio and television)

 

The graduate of media program, course of radio and television should be able to:

·         Know the history of radio and television media on the local and global level.

·         Understanding the factors affecting the work environment of radio and television locally and internationally.

·         Understanding the positive or negative effects of radio and television according to the theories of modern communication.

·         The ability to conduct quantitative researches and how to describe media content and its community impacts.

·         Understanding all the elements of radio and television production starting from preparing, photographing, editing, directing and ending with the ability of producing any form of TV or radio program.

·         Evaluating and criticizing radio and TV practices in the light of profession ethics and rules.  

·         Acquiring performance skills of radio and TV starting from Arabic language proficiency, the art of discourse, communication skills and ending with presenting radio and TV programs.

·         Developing the skills of general culture at the political, economic, social, psychological, historical, legal, administrative and scientific levels.

·         Employing modern communication technology to serve the work of radio and TV.

·         Dealing professionally with foreign media.

·         Understanding the basis of preparing, writing and presenting in radio and TV programs.

·          Describing the shapes of radio and television programs, its characteristics and the best ways to produce them.

·         Identifying the educational and cultural programs and their role in the community.

·         knowing the steps of production of radio and TV starting from idea selection, preparation, presentation and direction of the different program formats

·         Clarifying the role of specialized radio stations and channels to meet the needs of the public.

·         Describing the news programs and the basics of its foundation, presentation, direction as well as the rules of arrangement of news and how to implement the newsletters.

·         Knowing the methods of criticizing dramas and assessing their role in society.

·         Acknowledging of the social marketing of modern ideas and community issues.

·         Describing the steps of employing radio and TV to serve the issues of society.

·         Identifying the contemporary public opinion and its measuring ways.

 

Mental skills

The graduate becomes capable of:

·         Analyzing the factors affecting the performance of radio and TV broadcasting.

·         Diagnose the current state of radio and television technology.

·         Putting plans to produce radio and TV programs.

·         Comparing local radio and TV with its Arab and foreign counter parts.

·         Applying the concepts and theories of radio and TV.

·         Planning for survey researches on public radio and TV, as well as public opinion research.

·         Criticizing dramas, radio and TV commercials as well as documentary films.

·         Conducting analytical research for radio and TV.

·         Analyzing current political, economic, scientific, and legal events and linking each one to the other.

·         Assessing program performance in radio and TV for all art forms and templates.

The graduate becomes capable of:

·         Preparing various forms of radio and TV programs.

·         Using a radio and TV studio to record or broadcast programs on the air.

·         Using all the equipment and devices necessary for producing TV or radio programs.

·         Employing computers in radio and TV productions.

·         Applying the rules of Arabic language in writing for TV broadcasts.

·         Applying the rules of contemporary international media in oriented radio stations

·         Preparing social marketing and trade campaigns in an integrated manner

The graduate of media program (public relations course) should be capable of:

1-Understanding the nature of work of public relations; its objectives, functions and the scientific basis for their practice as well as the factors that influenced its development

2-Understanding the nature and means of communications, media and international advertising plus the skills needed to communicate effectively

3-Analysing the public opinion and the views of different audiences dealing with public relations services and advertising

1-    Acquiring the skills of working in the fields of public relations and advertising plus how the media can manage domestic and international issues and crisis.

2-    Practically applying the ethics of public relations, advertising and media.

3-    The ability to determine the masses of public relations, advertising and media.

·         Illustrating the scientific concepts related to public relations, media and public opinion.

·         Describing the steps for setting up public relations and advertising campaigns.

·         Identifying the items within public relations programs, advertising and social marketing.

·         Identifying the necessary communication skills for those who work in public relations or advertising to achieve persuasion and influence.

·         Explaining the intended organizational and marketing communications, crisis management, public opinion and international communication.

·         Mentioning the rules and regulations governing the social marketing campaigns.

·         Describing the steps of performing qualitative or analytical research in one of the areas of public relations or public opinion.

·         Recognizing the ethics of the public relations profession, advertising and dealing with the public opinion.
