Department of sociology

Introduction

 The department presents academic programs that aim to graduating students who are capable of:

1-Understanding the basic knowledge of sociology

2-Perceiving the impact of local, regional and global variables on societal change

3-Knowing the theory of sociology and social research methods

4-Focusing on the adoption of the social vision of the multiple forms of human interaction from the smallest to the largest and the dynamics of this social interaction

5-Developing the critical awareness to the social world and encouraging self-reflection of the nature of our social knowledge

 

The academic standards we follow are to graduate students who are capable of:

·         Describing a number of key concepts and theoretical trends in the framework of sociology

·         Distinguishing the various forms and tools of research strategies and clarifying its use to access social knowledge

·         Showing the relationship between various forms of controversy in sociology and the proof

·         Listing the patterns of social diversity and inequality

·         Demonstrating the use of comparison in sociology

Mental skills

The graduate becomes capable of:

·         Analyzing and assessing all the sociological issues

·         Recognizing a number of key concepts and theoretical trends in sociology

·         Practicing processes that support social change and social stability

Professional skills

The graduate becomes capable of:

·         Understanding the nature of the issues that have been formulated in the framework of sociology

·         Using sociological research methods

·         Identifying the issues that relate to social research ethics

General skills

The graduate becomes capable of:

·         Efficiently using internet and computer

·         Working independently

·         Managing time effectively

·         Efficiently dealing with sources of information
