Within the Presidential Initiative “Your Country Is With You,” and implementing the university’s directives to strengthen its role in community service and environmental development, the sector continued its societal efforts by organizing an expanded therapeutic veterinary caravan to Masir Village, Kafr El Sheikh District, in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Directorate. It provided free examination, treatment, and veterinary care services, supported breeders, and preserved animal and poultry wealth.

The caravan was held under Dr. Yahya Zakaria Eid’s patronage, University President, and Dr. Amani Shaker’s leadership, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. It was supervised by Dr. Samir Ahmed El Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Dr. Tarek Abdel Hadi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in cooperation with the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, under Dr. Ehab Shukri’s supervision, Deputy Minister and Directorate Director.

The caravan comes within the sector’s plan to deliver specialized university services to targeted villages, provide direct support to citizens, and utilize the university’s scientific capacities and academic expertise to meet local community needs.

The caravan witnessed broad participation by professors, faculty members, and teaching assistants in the faculty's clinical departments, alongside internship and faculty students. This contributed to providing integrated veterinary services combining community service and students’ field training, in coordination with Directorate colleagues.

Through the caravan implemented by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the sector provided free examination, treatment, and medical and surgical interventions. It examined 482 internal and infectious cases and 142 reproductive cases and performed 10 surgical cases, in addition to examining 2,430 poultry cases and providing necessary veterinary services.

Dr. Yahya Zakaria Eid affirmed that the university prioritizes community service. He indicated that the sector represents a main pillar in implementing the university’s societal mission and translating its scientific and academic capacities into direct services benefiting citizens across the governorate’s villages and districts.

The university president explained that the university’s caravans are not limited to providing therapeutic services; they aim to achieve comprehensive societal benefit by supporting citizens and breeders, raising awareness of healthy practices, preserving animal and poultry wealth, and providing practical training opportunities for specialized faculty's students.

For her part, Dr. Amani Shaker affirmed that the sector is keen to implement specialized caravans directly targeting citizens’ needs, stemming from the university’s responsibility toward the local community and its role in supporting state efforts and presidential initiatives.

She explained that veterinary caravans represent important models of the sector’s services, providing direct support to breeders through free examination and treatment and awareness of health and preventive care for animal and poultry wealth. She affirmed the sector’s continuation in expanding societal services and reaching the neediest villages and areas, in cooperation with faculties and relevant executive authorities.

Dr. Samir El Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, affirmed that the faculty participates effectively in the sector’s caravans by harnessing faculty members’ and teaching assistants’ expertise and the faculty’s capacities to serve citizens, alongside training students to handle different cases, contributing to preparing qualified veterinarians.
