Regardless of differences in environments and societies, the fundamental objectives of families remain similar in their core principles, in response to the changes and developments taking place within societies and environments. The Home Economics specialization also helps individuals develop practical household budgeting skills, plan and prepare nutritious meals, understand childcare and the stages of child development, recognize the nature of family relationships, reinforce the values and traditions associated with family life that are compatible with society, learn methods of home management, address the challenges and issues of family counseling, construct garments, and understand the nature of fashion design, textiles, their characteristics, and sewing techniques.
