Department Objectives


General Objectives

The Home Economics Program aims to enable graduates to:

  • Design teaching plans and educational environments that accommodate learner diversity.

  • Apply teaching methods while effectively integrating educational technology and taking into account learners' characteristics and learning styles.

  • Use appropriate methods and tools to assess the various aspects of the teaching and learning processes.

  • Deal professionally with learners with special needs who are eligible for inclusive education.

  • Develop themselves professionally and build diverse professional relationships.

  • Recognize the unity of knowledge and the integrative relationships among different scientific disciplines.

  • Employ educational and psychological guidance and counseling mechanisms, as well as entrepreneurship, in their professional practices.

  • Communicate effectively using personal competencies and information and communication technology (ICT) skills.

  • Keep abreast of developments related to their field of specialization.

  • Communicate effectively in Arabic and in one foreign language.

  • Adhere to societal values and the ethics and professional standards of the teaching profession in their interactions with learners and stakeholders.

  • Recognize the foundations of the nation's cultural identity.

  • Contribute to promoting the values of national belonging, democracy, tolerance, and acceptance of others.

  • Recognize their role in community development and the role of education in achieving sustainable development.

  • Participate in solving professional and community problems using scientific approaches.

  • Participate in community service and educational development activities to achieve quality and excellence.

Specialized Objectives

In addition to the general objectives, the Home Economics Program aims to enable graduates to:

  • Apply Food Science principles while recognizing the relationship between proper, balanced, and healthy nutrition.

  • Apply the principles of clothing, textiles, and home furnishings production and maintenance using appropriate materials and tools.

  • Apply the principles and methods of home, family, and institutional management while observing the principles of rational consumption.

  • Design, implement, and manage projects and small-scale industries in light of available resources.

  • Apply occupational health and safety regulations.
