The Educational Technology Department is regarded as one of the most important departments within faculties of education and specific education. However, it was long viewed narrowly and restrictively, with some perceiving educational technology as merely devices, equipment, and instructional aids. Yet with the rapid and immense development of the information and communications age, and the technologies and applications that have influenced all aspects of life, the concept of educational technology has evolved accordingly. Technology in general refers to the application of scientific knowledge to solve practical problems; educational technology, therefore, refers to the systematic and methodical application of research and empirical theories related to teaching and learning processes and learning resources, and the deployment of all human and non-human (material) elements in the fields of teaching and learning to address problems, with the aim of improving the efficiency of education, increasing its effectiveness, and achieving the desired learning outcomes. The department aims to:

• Prepare specialized generations of instructional designers recognized for their competence in performing their tasks with distinction and effectiveness.
• Contribute to the development of research knowledge related to the field of educational technology.
• Engage openly with official and civil institutions and bodies through cooperation with them to serve the community locally and regionally.

The Department offers the following courses:

Instructional Media Production courses, including (Foundations of Instructional Media Production – Photographic Image Production – Educational Technology for Special-Needs Groups – Chart/Panel Production).

Library Management courses, including (Classification – Descriptive Cataloging – Digital Libraries – Use of Databases in Libraries).

Computer Science courses, including (Fundamentals of Computers – Using Windows – Computer Maintenance – Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems – Networks – Software Production).

 

Educational Content Management courses, including (Designing Instructional Situations – E-Learning).
