workshop under the title "Green synthesis of nanoparticles, applications and biosafety"

Based on faith in the vision and mission of the botany program, The Department of Botany, faculty of Science, Kafrelsheikh University has organized a workshop under the title "Green synthesis of nanoparticles, applications and biosafety" in order to qualify the undergraduate and postgraduate for the labor market in addition to community service, environmental development and interest in scientific research and modern science. The time period from 3-4 April 2018.

Lecturers at the workshop:

Prof. Dr. Sahar Mostafa, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, Visiting Professor at Chemistry Department, McGill University, Montreal, Canada

Dr. Raja Hamouda Associate Professor of Microbial Microbiology at Sadat University

Dr. Mohamed Samir Yousef, Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Genetics, Botany Department, Faculty of Science, Kafrelsheikh University

Dr. Kamel Rizk Shaer Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Nanochemistry, Institute of Nanotechnology and Science, Kafrelsheikh University.

The workshop included theoretical lectures and practical training. The lectures dealt with different synthesis methods of nanoparticles with a focus on biological synthesis as well as different characterization methods and nanotechnology application in several fields. While practical training included the synthesis of nanoparticles for silver and for zinc and copper oxides.

Thirty-five trainees participated in the training. They included many faculty members from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Fisheries Sciences, researchers at the Rice Research Center, graduate students, MSc, PhD, and undergraduate students in the various faculties of the university.

Thanks for Prof. Dr. Maged El-Kemary, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Alaa Salem, Acting dean of Faculty of Science, and Prof. Dr. Soliman Haroun, Head of the Botany Department, thanks extended to the University's leadership and the Faculty of Science, for providing support and care for the workshop and more thanks to all members of the Institute of Science and Nanotechnology at Kafrelsheikh University to provide technical support and opportunity for trainees to visit the Institute and know the scientific possibilities and modern devices.
