In line with the Egyptian state’s policy to enhance resource efficiency and address global energy challenges, and in implementation of the directives of prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the patronage of Prof. Yahya Eid, President of Kafrelsheikh University, and in alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education’s initiative “Save it, Enlighten it,” Kafrelsheikh University announces the launch of the “Start with Yourself” initiative to rationalize consumption within the university campus and beyond, among its students and faculties.
Prof. Yahya Eid, President of the University, affirms that the initiative is within the framework of the university’s commitment to fulfilling its societal and developmental role and promoting a culture of sustainability among students. He points out that the Sector of Education and Student Affairs has adopted this initiative to address the growing challenges in the fields of energy, food, and water resources by encouraging students to present innovative ideas and practical, applicable solutions.
The President explains that the initiative aims to engage undergraduate students from various faculties and institutes in creating a positive interactive environment that contributes to rationalizing energy consumption inside the university, spreading a culture of rational use of natural resources, and enhancing environmental awareness among all members of the university community.
Prof. Yahya Eid adds that the initiative allows students to submit diverse projects and ideas, including the design of smart systems for energy management, reliance on renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of awareness campaigns and practical practices that help rationalize food, water, and energy consumption rates. This supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
