Intended learning outcomes of the course (ILOs): by the end of the course the student should be able to gain:

A.     knowledge and understanding to:

o   Describe the basics of orthopaedics & traumatology.

o   Determine orthopedic symptoms, signs, methods of examination and investigations applied for diagnosis in orthopedic surgery with attention to common orthopedic disorders, emergencies and early diagnosis of serious diseases.

o   Determine the appropriate diagnostic tools and therapeutic lines for the most important orthopedic disorders, including applicable recent modalities.

o   Describe the appropriate treatment for common orthopedic disorders and emergencies.

B.   Intellectual skills

o    Analyze problems on anatomical, physiological and pathological background and differentiate between different orthopedic diseases.

o    Logical thinking to reach correct diagnosis

C.   Professional &practical skills

o   Collect clinical data specially the art of history taking.

o   Examine and identify signs of common and rare musculoskeletal disorders.

o   Perform office clinical procedures related to musculoskeletal dysfunction.

o   Perform simple musculoskeletal laboratory procedures.

o   Offer proper medical treatment for musculoskeletal problems.

o   Perform basic surgical skills and manage common surgical complications related to musculoskeletal system.
