The President of Kafr El-Sheikh University explained that the importance of medical conferences extends beyond scientific lectures to include opportunities for discussion, exchange of expertise, exposure to diverse experiences, and the establishment of new channels of cooperation among universities and academic schools. He emphasized that cardiothoracic surgery is a highly specialized field that requires continuous learning, ongoing training, teamwork, and the ability to make decisions in a highly complex medical environment.
Prof. Dr. Yehia Zakaria Eid noted that learning in highly specialized medical fields does not end with obtaining an academic degree; rather, it remains a continuous practice. He stressed that regardless of their level of experience, physicians must continue to stay up to date with scientific developments, review their practices, benefit from their colleagues’ expertise, and pass their knowledge on to younger generations.
He further highlighted that the rapid developments in cardiothoracic surgery, minimally invasive and less invasive surgical procedures, perioperative care, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence applications require healthcare professionals to approach modern technology with a scientifically responsible mindset. He explained that the true value of any new technology emerges when it is supported by scientific evidence, appropriate for the patient, and safely applicable, while recognizing its limitations as well as its potential.
The President of Kafr El-Sheikh University affirmed that the University continues to support its academic and medical system in ways that contribute to the development of education, training, scientific research, and community service. He noted that the goal is not merely to graduate physicians capable of performing medical procedures, but to prepare physicians and researchers who can formulate scientific questions, seek evidence, analyze results, learn from challenging cases, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Addressing young physicians and researchers, Prof. Dr. Yehia Zakaria Eid encouraged them to take full advantage of scientific conferences as opportunities to ask questions, engage in discussions, present their experiences, and learn from professors and colleagues. He emphasized that a good physician never stops learning, while a good researcher begins by asking the right question before searching for the answer.
The President stressed that investing in physician training, researcher development, and medical education is an investment in citizens’ health and the future of society. He emphasized the importance of linking education and scientific research to the needs of society and transforming knowledge and research findings into a tangible impact on people’s lives.
Prof. Dr. Yehia Zakaria Eid expressed his hope that the first conference of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery would mark the beginning of a continuous scientific journey and serve as the foundation for a renewed academic tradition that brings together professors, specialists, young physicians, and researchers from various Egyptian universities, while opening new horizons for cooperation and knowledge exchange.
