Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Acting President of the University, announces that the university has achieved a new scientific milestone to be added to its distinguished record of accomplishments. It has topped the ranking among Egyptian universities in the disciplines of Physical Sciences and Social Sciences, according to the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings for 2026.

He explains that the university ranks in the global category of 401–500 in Physical Sciences and in the 601–800 category globally in Social Sciences. The university also secures the second place among Egyptian universities in Life Sciences and Engineering Sciences, with a global ranking in the 401–500 category for Life Sciences and 501–600 for Engineering Sciences.

He adds that the university also achieved the fourth place among Egyptian universities in the disciplines of Clinical and Health Sciences and Computer Sciences, ranking globally in the 601–800 category in both disciplines.

Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim confirms that this achievement reflects the ongoing efforts made by Kafrelsheikh University to support the education and scientific research system, and to develop institutional performance in line with international standards. He points out that the noticeable progress in international rankings is due to the improvement in the level of scientific research, enhancement of the quality of international publications, increased citation rates of scientific papers, as well as the expansion of international cooperation horizons with research and industrial institutions inside and outside Egypt.

The President of Kafrelsheikh University clarifies that the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking for higher education institutions relies on five main areas in evaluating universities: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry application. This is through 13 performance indicators related to teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international surveys, allowing for comprehensive and balanced comparisons among universities worldwide. The ranking also takes into account the number of PhD degrees awarded, the faculty-to-student ratio, the proportion of postgraduate students, diversity of disciplines, as well as the university's budget and income, which reflect the strength and activity of the research and institutional environment.

The university president notes that this excellence reflects the vision of the Egyptian state and its political leadership in supporting higher education and scientific research. He affirms that what Egyptian universities in general—and Kafrelsheikh University in particular—are achieving in international rankings is the fruit of ambitious national policies aimed at elevating the quality of education and scientific research, and placing Egyptian universities among the ranks of world-class institutions.

Otherwise, Prof. Hasan Younis, Supervisor of the Ranking Unit at Kafrelsheikh University, points out that the university has succeeded in strengthening its research standing by increasing the number of papers published in high-impact international scientific journals, raising the proportion of referenced research and global citation rates, which has positively reflected on the university's ranking in the Times Higher Education global subject rankings.
