  • Fish Feed Analysis Laboratory

Establishment of the fish feed analysis laboratory:

Since its inception, the Faculty of Aquatic and Fisheries - Kafrelsheikh University has sought to establish and equip laboratories specialized in fisheries sciences, including the feed analysis laboratory, with the aim of raising students' efficiency and training them on the latest laboratory equipment specialized in the analysis of feed and its components, as well as training faculty members, the assistant staff and postgraduate students And raising their scientific and laboratory competence, which helps to increase communication with the local community and provide all scientific and practical advice in the field of analysis of feed and its components, especially in the Kafr El-Sheikh governorate and the neighboring governorates. Kafr El-Sheikh governorate is characterized by a large number of fish farms and hatcheries, which made it the first governorate in fish production in the Arab Republic of Egypt

The fish feed analysis laboratory in the college is one of the main requirements for providing a distinguished educational service for undergraduate students in the college and training them on the latest scientific equipment so that the college graduates can compete in the labor market and provide distinguished community services to the surrounding community.

In addition to providing a prominent role in community service by providing consultations and technical support to various sectors of the local community, including owners of farms and fish hatcheries, as well as owners of feed factories and those dealing with them, as well as assisting decision-makers with regard to studies of fish wealth and the environmental dimension of various projects.

Therefore, it was necessary to establish specialized laboratories to analyze the feed and its components and evaluate its quality so that it would be a reference that any breeder could resort to ensure the quality of the feed and its conformity with the required specifications in terms of analyzing its various components and ensuring their safety.

    Lab vision:

A leading and reference laboratory uses technological and modern techniques in the analysis of feed and its components.

    Lab mission:

The laboratory seeks to serve the educational process, advance scientific research, train scientific cadres on the latest technologies and scientific equipment, and serve and develop the surrounding community by providing programs and training courses, providing technical consultations, and providing certified results data regionally and globally in feed analyzes with a high degree of accuracy, quality, and speed that can be relied upon in decision-making to stakeholders

Specific objectives of the lab project:

1-Rehabilitation of the feed analysis and fish nutrition laboratory for accreditation.

2-Raising awareness of the importance of laboratory accreditation and spreading the culture of quality within the educational institution.

3-Raise the institutional capacity and strengthen the factory's infrastructure.

4-Developing the laboratory management system to create a clear organizational structure.

5- Access to sustainable mechanisms that generate income for the factory by marketing it by strengthening and activating the relationship between the educational institution and the production and service community.

The strategic objectives of the laboratory:

     1) Increasing the competitiveness of the factory.

     2) Serving the educational process and the surrounding community inside and outside the college.

    3) Strengthening and activating the relationship between the laboratory and civil society organizations and national, regional and international bodies to develop scientific research, academic and service systems.

     4) Conducting laboratory measurements and analyzes for undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members and researchers in research centers, external institutions and individuals.

     5) Providing specialized training courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing distinguished student support and effective participation of students in research activities.

     6) Providing specialized technical consultations in the field of the laboratory.

     7) Work to raise the efficiency of human and material resources to facilitate educational and research services.

     8) Introducing all that is new in the analysis systems and using modern devices to face the new developments.

     9) Establish occupational health and safety rules within the college laboratories, including the safe disposal of waste and chemical and biological residues.

    10) Self-development and sustainable development of resources.
