The university council, under the authority of the President Prof Dr Maged el Kemary, decides to establish the first artificial intelligence faculty in Egypt on the beginning of the next academic year 2019/2020. This comes within the framework of the universitys endeavor to develop its outputs to keep up with the future functions via focusing on future sciences and initiating in shaping the future of learning and teaching by using innovative methods via smart technology according to the highest standards of quality to contribute to building knowledge economy in line with sustainable development vision in Egypt in 2020 by providing intelligent digital education opportunities with high quality in the sciences and new areas needed for the future as well as providing an integrated stage to test creative ideas and new applications and support the process of transformation adopted by the state towards adopting the smart cities model.

As well, the president Prof Dr Maged el Kemary certifies that artificial intelligence is the new bandwagon after smart services on which all services, institutions and future infrastructure of the state will depend. One should seek to adopt all tools and techniques of artificial intelligence to improve governmental performance at all levels via developing mechanisms and techniques of artificial intelligence.

He adds that the impact of artificial intelligence has extended to all fields of our daily lives and I is expected that artificial intelligence will soon become an integral part of all electronic systems used to sustain human life, so one should focus on artificial intelligence, exploit it on the best way to maximize its use in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development via narrowing the gap between Egypt and the developed world in skills and reaching classes of developed countries via an objective vision and political will supported by determining the resources needed to meet the challenges.

On the other hand, he stresses the universitys keenness to integrate artificial intelligence within the educational system as a result of the rapid development of applications of artificial intelligence. It is expected that educational systems will change in the future to artificial intelligence as it will include a radical change in how to manage students, staff members, curriculums and educational environments and how to transform the student from a recipient into knowledge-making partner via graduating young people who are skilled in tools of knowledge economy and are ideologically and creatively qualified to make the future aspired by the state.
