An Introduction

The department presents programs that aim to prepare a graduate who is able to:

1)     Speak, write and read English fluently.

2)     Translate from English into Arabic and vice versa.

3)     Speak English, activate with it and have familiarity of its intellectual and art production and its developments.

4)     Communicate with other cultures because of his/her strong background of Arabic culture.

5)     Master English and realize the civilizational framework of English and its culture.

6)     Read carefully for English and American Literature.

 

The academic standard for English program that should contain knowledge and understanding:

      The graduate can understand:

1)    Linguistic and grammatical rules of English language.

2)    The styles of linguistic and literary expression common in English.

3)    The literary and intellectual stream common in English heritage.

4)    The most famous old and modern writers and thinkers in English heritage and the literary and thoughtful production.

5)    The basic knowledge and concepts in the field of literary theories.

6)    The most important linguistic and grammatical rules in Arabic language.

 

The professional skills:

The graduate can:

1)    Employ information and concepts that he/she is studied in his/her field.

2)    Write correctly English texts.

3)    Translate from Arabic into English and vice versa.

4)    Use the correct linguistic rules in writing topic or report or in orating in English.

5)    Employ the different human sciences in practicing literary and linguistic work.

6)    Use reference of the second foreign language he learns.

7)    Speak with English talkers.

 

 

 

 

 

The mental skills:

The graduate should be able to:

1)    Realize the contextual relationships for different styles in English.

2)    Analyze and criticize oral and written texts in English.

3)    Realize the linguistic and grammatical meanings and its development.

4)    Compare between English culture and Arabic culture.

 

The general skills:

          The graduate should be able to:

1)    Learn teamwork and team management.

2)    Express in brief.

3)    Suggest solutions for any problem in his/her work.

4)    Communicate positively with others.

5)    Use information technology in his/her specialism.

6)    Collect and present information in appropriate manner.

7)    Deal efficiently with information sources.

English department aims to be an outstanding department for teaching English over the local and regional level to change community for the best by developing the creativity, critical thought and communicating with the different cultures, especially English culture.

 

 

The Mission

The department aims to present outstanding educational model to support critical thought that can face the challenges of age and participate in solving the problems of Egyptian community.

On the other hand, it seeks to spread the spirit of research for university student to catch up with developing universities in the field of research to participate in developing societal movement for the best.

 

 

 

The Strategic goals:

1)    The faculty can graduate students with wide culture in the field of literature and language.

2)    The faculty can activate scientific research and adopt extinguished people.

3)    The faculty can benefit from new techniques in science and knowledge (internet and electronic library).

4)    The faculty can communicate with corresponding departments in other universities inside and outside.

5)    The faculty can raise the level of English for staff in all departments and different faculties.
